More recent finishes

I had to post about this quilt as I helped the customer find this pattern and adapted it from AlyciaQuilts - QuiltyGirl to fit her wishes.  With all the fussy cutting it ended up much harder than she probably thought it would be, but she is persnickity about using those prints and it turned out really nice!

This is adapted from 'Rotation' from Wilmington Prints using Bohemian Dreams 10" mini-stack, cut in half and bordered with 3" cut strips of Toscana-Vanilla fabric. I fussy cut the medallion border and used other coordinating fabric for the backing and the coordinting stripe for the binding. Vogue panto and Vanilla Milkshake YLI thread with 80/20 batting. All is available in the shop. Original Rotation pattern is free when purchasing sufficient fabrics to make this.

Row by Row - 2019 - Taste the Experience!

This year's Row by Row Experience(tm)'s theme is 'Taste the Experience'.

I wanted to come up with something that seemed local to the area and still had a bit of me in it. So these ombre fabrics seemed to fit the bill for making a tall cool drink. Who doesn't need a cool drink in the coulee on a hot summer day?

This is my 'Drink of Choice' design, using 2 ombre fabrics. One for the background and one for the contents. The placement of elements does all the work. I've added three sheer pieces to lighten the ice near the top even more just for fun.

Quilting: straight lines horizontally in the background, curved lines at the rim of the glass and jagged lines in the glass to represent the ice.

Customers will have the option to make it their personal drink of choice by selecting an appropriate ombre color.

Stop by the shop ...if driving from a distance, please call ahead. I generally will be in the shop Monday-Friday 10am-5pm. Some Wednesdays we will be open until 7pm during our summer kids time which will take place across the street from me this year on Wednesday evenings starting July 10 and going through the end of August.

I'm happy to take appointments on Sunday. Always closed on Saturday for Sabbath Observance.

To check out other Row by Row items available, you can always check here, including prior year fabrics and kits.

Some recent finishes worth sharing

A former student of mine and his wife recently had a baby. They met at a school with green and orange school colors and he works in construction now ...so I thought these fabrics were very appropriate. A simple zig zag using my WW Baby #2 design.

This is a Triangle Frenzy design using Catalina fabric available currently from my shop. My mom put this together for me as a sample.

This was a 'quick commission' request and went together in no time! Side borders on a panel, quilt and bind. All available in my shop. Here is a link to the kit.

This was a long time in the making ....a Gen. Physics College professor of mine from many years ago moved near me in retirement. I got reacquainted with he and his wife but he later lost her to Parkinsons. Some time went by and he got reacquainted with his grade school sweetheart. After many notes were passed, one that said 'Will You Marry Me' was intercepted by the teacher. Many years later he wrote it again and she said Yes. So, I thought this "Paper Obsessed" fabric line was perfect for me to make up an envelope-like quilt. In the spring this year my husband and I were able to visit them and present them with this quilt, "That Note". This was adapted from several envelope-like quilts that I have seen. I added a bit of additional fabric for the large envelope (red "Letters from the Heart" and insert - "I Do"), but otherwise I used a FQ pack of Paper Obsessed and yardage of the notebook paper fabric and Eclectic Elements Postal Stripe for the binding. I used the Envelopes fabric on the back.

I had the opportunity to go out to the Root Pickers, which are within a few miles of the shop, and take a photo of the Tahoe quilt. All 3 wishes fabrics available at the shop. Separator diamonds and background are both Northcott-Toscana also available.

Time for an Update on my last WIP post

Lots of finishes coming together and I realized that it has been several months since I shared some of them, so decided I should put a set of blog posts together to document and talk about a few of them in particular. This post I'll focus on the finishes from the last 3 quilts I was posting about. Come back soon for more!

After quilting this one, Holly Berries in the Snow, I threw it out over the snow in front of my shop!
bad lighting, but you can kind of see the quilting....

After binding it ....it was still snowy outside and I was able to hang it from a pole at my house with Grand Coulee Dam in the background.

My 2015 "WATER" Row by Row Experience quilt, A Columbia River Story, is now complete and hung at the Tri-Cities Quilt Show in March and received an Honorable Mention ribbon too!

Also got a special ribbon for Fly Free at the same show.

I was also working on a "Sew Musical" 2018 Row by Row Experience Quilt ...which I have now named Tribute to RB (my dad). This has been donated to Monterey Bay Academy as a fundraiser for roadworks in memory of my dad. I'll post more later about this quilt and 2 or 3 others that are being donated with information about how you can help out in the fundraising and perhaps be able to get these quilts into your own possession! Stay tuned.

Both of these have also been donated and there will be possibly one more.
