My 6th Alaska 2007 Shop Hop Block –I’m caught up
now with this project through June. This one is Night’s End from Seams to Bee in Homer, Alaska.
My 4th Pam Bono’s –Out of the Darkness block “Orange
Blossom”. Spent a lot of the day washing the orange, coral and yellow batiks in this and trying to get all residual dye out of the fabric. Don't forget to test your fabrics!
New Project
Storm at Sea. Started this as a class a couple of weeks ago, but originally
designed the general idea while on our honeymoon over 3 years ago. When the
class was offered as part of a local quilt show, I had to sign-up---even if I
hadn’t put it on my WIP queue for this year. I do hope to make some progress on this over the next couple of weeks.
BONUS: With the
California Adventure going on, I returned home for just over a week and quilted
5 client quilts, and one commission. Here is the Memory/Commission quilt. The
couple lived on a cattle ranch. This quilting gives the scrappy quilt a little
bit more interest and tells more of the story. The busyness of the top makes it
difficult to see the full design, but you can see it on the back a little bit
easier although I used the same color thread as the fabric. I am quite pleased
with the hearts in the four corners and the center medallion effect with four
hearts in the middle with a large rod iron like hook at the top of them. The
border is edged with a double straight stitch and in between the two edges is free-handed
barbed wire. This is the first time I’ve done this type of quilting design. This
has been named “Colorado Country Love – Forever in my Heart”.

They're all great, but I really love the orange blossoms!! Funny story, I went to a thrift store today, and almost bought some men's shirts today to use for quilting, but decided I had enough fabric already. Were those shirts all cotton? I saw a few today that were really nice!! Great quilting!
